E-book "Fabric patterns in glass: Ikat"
This is the second book in the series "Fabric patterns in glass". Every book in this series describes various techniques which can be used for imitation of one of fabric patterns. Each technique has its own advantages and level of complexity, so regardless of your experience in glass fusing you may find the project you can do.
This book is dedicated to Ikat - a traditional dyeing technique that creates beautiful patterns on textiles. It is widely practiced in Indonesia, where it originated, as well as in other parts of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
There are four projects in this book, and each project is implemented in its own technique: stack fusing, reverse frit painting, pattern bar, and stringers. You may consider it as a good tutorial of these techniques. The projects in the book are arranged in the order of their complexity.
Every project in this book begins with the description of the approach used in the project and continues with a detailed analysis of the real pattern. You learn how to identify basic components, what glass elements to use for their representation, how to estimate their amount and so on. If you understand this with the described patterns, you can do the same with any other ikat pattern.
For each project I included list of materials with the dimensions.
There are 82 pages, more than 70 pictures and illustrations.
